Source Ranch Founder

In the early 1970’s Glenn Hegsted moved his family from Utah to Montana to escape the growing population of that area. In 1978 Glenn visited a property that was for sale and fell in love with the ranch located 10 miles south of Dillon.

Glenn immediately secured the property and in 1979 moved his young family to a one room cabin with a dirt floor and one light bulb. The family had no indoor plumbing and cooked in a camp trailer parked outside. Over the next 2 years Glenn and his family hand peeled log after log that ultimately created what is now known as Source Lodge.

After certain events, Glenn began constructing the guest cabins that now make up Source Ranch in 1996. Finally in 1998 the first guests arrived to stay at what was known as the Hidden Valley Guest Ranch. Glenn wanted to share the incredible property that his family so loved with the public and this dream came to fruition.

As time progressed many people had began calling the ranch “The Source” because of the springs that surfaced on the property… and the fact that these waters were used to create a brand of spring water called Montaqua. In 2007 the name of the ranch was changed to Source Ranch to better describe the experience that guests enjoyed during their visits.

Despite all the changes that Glenn and his family has endured over the years, one passion stays the same… to share Source Ranch with those who will appreciate what the property and surrounding area has to offer.

Mascot

It would probably be better to call our mascot the security guard. Bullit is a pure bred German Sheppard who has called Source Ranch his home since he was barely able to walk. Bullit always sounds the alarm when anyone arrives at the ranch… don’t worry he might seem intimidating but he’ll soon be your best friend. He roams the Ranch and ensures everyone is alright… he also loves the scraps from any barbeque that guests enjoy.
